Swae Lee born as Khalif Malikibnsham Brown is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer from Mississippi. He is best known for being one half of the hip-hop duo named Rae Sremmurd, performing alongside his real-life brother Slim Jxmmi. This duo is famous for their platinum singles ‘No Type’ and ‘No Flex Zone’. Having high ambitions right from his childhood, Lee initially looked for recognition through YouTube. His talent, passion, and dedication for music helped him gain attention from the music industry and within a short period of time, the young singer was successful in getting worldwide recognition. Today, Lee has emerged as one of the biggest rappers in the country. Apart from name and fame, the American rapper and singer has earned millions of fans all across the globe. Talking about his social media popularity, Lee has got about 1.7 million followers on Instagram and about 304k followers on Twitter. He and his brother also have over 3.8 million followers on their joint Instagram account.
Prior to joining the rap industry, Swae Lee, along with his brother Jxmmi, used to perform at parties and shows in their town. The pair collaborated with a friend and created the group ‘Dem Outta State Boyz’. This group began uploading its songs and videos to YouTube with the aim of getting recognition. After performing in the group, Lee and Jxmmi moved to Atlanta after being advised to do so by P-Nasty. There, the duo joined hands with record producer Mike WiLL Made-It and signed to his label EarDrummers Entertainment as Rae Sremmurd (spelled backwards as Ear Drummers) and produced two songs ‘We’ and ‘I Dip’. Unfortunately these tracks failed to get much attention from the public.
Lee and his brother didn’t lose hope and released their single titled ‘No Flex Zone’ in 2014. Soon after the release of this track, the duo shot to stardom! This track was ranked #35 on US Billboard Hot 100 and even spawned numerous remixes. After this, Lee and Jxmmi released the single ‘No Type’ which rose to #16 on the same chart. The brothers have since released two studio albums under the label EarDrummers, namely ‘SremmLife’ and ‘SremmLife 2’.
